Akelius, Sweden’s largest private property group, plans to acquire 10,000 homes in the UK over a five year period in order to develop a large buy-to-let portfolio. Following their purchase of 700 properties across London, EuroTop assisted them in the refurbishment of their houses in the Borough of Lambeth. The works involved the full property refurbishment; inclusive of bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. We worked to a high specification in order to bring these properties up to the standard required for the high-end rental market within a short time frame to maximise rent potential.

Project: The Golden Lane Estate
Client: Corporation of London
Main Contractor: The Apollo Group
Category: Decent Homes Refurbishment
Customer Satisfaction: 98%
Location: Barbican, London
EuroTop carried out internal upgrade works to bring the Golden Lane Estate properties up to the required Decent Homes standard. Designed in 1952 by renowned architects Chamberlain, Powell and Bon, the 224 flats on the estate are spread across six low rise buildings and one dominating tower block, of which three of the blocks are Grade 2 listed buildings.
In addition to the restrictions put in place by the English Heritage, the flats had unusually small kitchens even by London standards. Finding places for cookers and other appliances proved to be a challenging issue for the project team but we still delivered within the timeframe and budget.

A conversion of 23 flats from Elderly Care Homes to a care facility for people with mental illness presented EuroTop with a new and unique challenge given the proposed use of the new facility. Main Contractor: The Apollo Group
Category: Decent Homes Refurbishment
Customer Satisfaction: 100%

EuroTop carried out a multiple block refurbishment scheme on behalf of Tower Hamlets under their Decent Homes programme. This was the first of several years commitment to bringing the local Social Housing in that area up to a Decent Homes standard.
When Mayor Lutfur Rahman visited the properties he stated “it is great to see the works now taking place to tenants’ homes. Housing is my top priority and I'm delighted to see the difference this money can make”.
Tower Hamlets Homes Chief Executive Gavin Cansfield stressed the necessity of this initial phase - “it was really important that we did a pilot scheme to make sure we ironed out any problems in advance of the full programme. I'm really pleased with the works that we have carried out”.
Project: Pilgrim House
Client: London Borough of Southwark
Main Contractor: The Apollo Group
Category: Decent Homes Refurbishment

Pilgrim House is another successfully completed Decent Homes project consisting of 40 properties. As the building lay in the heart of a busy road network near Tower Bridge tourist attractions, it presented us with the operational challenge of maintaining a constant flow of materials to site. We carefully managed construction works with coordinated logistical support to minimise disruption.

Project: Doddington Estate
Client: The London Borough of Wandsworth
Main Contractor: The Apollo Group
Category: New build, Refurbishment
Customer Satisfaction: 100%
Location: Battersea, Wandsworth, London
This project saw the transformation of a large storage area, a basement and six garages into Hidden Homes ready to be sold or used as tenanted social housing.
The locations were at ground and basement level in the apartment blocks so particular consideration of load bearing walls, utility and drainage systems were taken into account.
Our perfect customer rating for this project highlighted our ability to deliver on Hidden Homes and sets EuroTop up well for the anticipated increase in this category over the coming year.

Marchwood saw the successful completion of 10 Decent Homes properties, including the complete strip out of the kitchen and the mechanical heating installations.

Project: Homes in Havering
Client: London Borough of Havering
Main Contractor: Durkan Ltd
Category: Decent Homes Refurbishment
Customer Satisfaction: N/A
Location: Havering, Essex
This project was made up of scattered properties located in Romford and the surrounding Havering area. Providing Decent Homes properties in scattered locations required EuroTop’s operations team to rethink the usual strategy for delivery. Normally our projects surround a main compound which is used as a base for the trade team and storeman to operate from. In Havering some properties we worked on were up to 20 miles from the central compound. This meant our teams needed to become more mobile and prepare contingencies for any issues this increased distance created.
